Globalization and Me Art Work and Research Brief
This globalization artwork was informed by images of agricultural land from ASTER the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer satellite orbiting Earth (http://asterweb.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery.asp?catid=50). I was inspired to use these images to comment on globalization, as well as to reflect on some of the artists in my research brief that used earth, seeds, and soil in their work. I believe as a global society we should be more cognizant of where our food comes from, how agriculture affects the Earth, and the need to gain perspective on our ecological effects on the planet.
The following Globalization and Me research brief focuses on artists that use ecological and environmental content in their work, scholarly references of environmental and ecologically conscious artists and their intent, as well as two examples of action based research utilizing ecological, environmental, and sustainable focused artmaking in the classroom.

Creatively Seeing Series: What do you see?
When I create, an intuitive process takes over. Recently I’ve explored using rain, in my paintings creation (first image on left), to see the effect it would create. Another creative aspect to my current series is sharing the images on social media and eliciting responses from viewers as to what they see in the work or what feelings the painting may evoke. Similar to finding shapes in clouds or wood grain, this is a playful way of seeing others creative perceptions of my work.
